FOX has introduced two all-new shocks for the 2022 season - one of them is the new FOX X Air air shock, which provides excellent adjustability at a low weight to meet the demands of aggressive trail riders and combines sophisticated damping and uncompromising performance in a lightweight design with excellent structural integrity.
The new FOX X Air shock isn't really a replacement for the DPX2. Instead, think of it as a smaller, lighter version of the Float X2 with a feature set aimed squarely at the trail category. (Its intended use is not enduro.)
The 2022 FOX X Air shock features a large piston and large air volume for a wider range of tuneability on different frames. This larger piston size means less air pressure is needed to achieve the same spring force - reducing the average pressure by 40PSI compared to the DPX2.
It is far more adjustable than the DPX2, with the air chamber volume adjustable in 0.1 increments. A 0.1 volume spacer can be added to the -0.2, -0.4, -0.6, -0.8, -1.0 settings to fine-tune the air spring volume so riders can find what works best for their frame.
In addition to the ability to adjust the chamber volume, it also has numerous External damping adjustment options that will make a wide range of riders happy. It has a numbered LSC (Low Speed Compression) adjustment screw and gets more clicks of rebound adjustment (11) compared to the DPX2.
There is also an independent fixed mode (locking) circuit, controlled by a 2-position lever.
