We have created a new page for you with instructions and tips https://magurabrzdy.sk/

For the correct installation of MAGURA hydraulic brakes, carefully read the manual supplied with each brake! MAGURA provides a 5-year WARRANTY on its brakes , specifically on the lever and caliper seals, when using only original MAGURA spare parts. You can read more about the warranty at https://www.magura.com/en/components/techcenter/faq-5-year-leak-proof-guarantee

Please note that MAGURA products are sensitive to the tightening torques of screws and connections. Damage caused by incorrect tightening torques is NOT covered by the warranty! Torques are always specified in the instructions or manuals.

Maximum tightening torques:

Caliper 6 Nm
Sleeve 4 Nm
Adapter 6 Nm
IS disc 4 Nm
Disc CL 40 Nm
Banjo 3 Nm
EBT lever air vent 0.5 Nm
Olive screw for lever 4 Nm
Caliper breather 4 Nm
Brake pads 2.5 Nm

Magura brings products to the market with the aim that the average consumer can handle installation or basic service according to the included text-picture manuals or video tutorials. However, if you want to entrust your brakes to professionals, we are happy to help:

Basic installation of MAGURA levers

To properly install the brake lever, it is first necessary to correctly orient the arrows that are stamped on the Magura MT handlebar clamp (arrows pointing upwards). First, it is necessary to tighten the upper bolt of the clamping sleeve so that there is no gap between the lever and the clamp, then the lower bolt of the clamp can be tightened. Normally, there should be a 2-3mm gap between the clamp and the lever with the lower bolt. Do not tighten the bolts with more than 3 NM. Overtightening the bolts or incorrectly tightening the upper and lower joints can cause the clamping sleeve to crack and this damage is not covered by the warranty!

BAT adjustment (only on MT7-Bite Point Adjustment-6 positions): On the right lever, turning clockwise (to the right) shortens the lever stroke and at the same time reduces the modulation more towards an ON/OFF feeling (higher bite). Turning counterclockwise lengthens the lever stroke and increases the modulation (dosability). On the left lever, proceed in the opposite direction.

What brake discs to use?

For maximum brake performance, Magura recommends exclusively Magura brand discs .

Please be aware that:

  • Magura discs are 2mm thick with a specific braking surface width.
  • Most competing brands produce thinner discs, 1.8mm thick, with a narrower braking surface .
  • Worn discs will lose another 0.3-0.4mm of their thickness.
  • 200mm and 203mm discs are not dimensionally identical discs,
  • 200mm discs are not compatible with Magura adapters.

"Breaking in" MAGURA disc brakes

Every new brake/pad/disc must be "broken in" to achieve maximum braking force.

MAGURA recommends: For brake straight from about 30km/h to a complete stop with one brake and repeat this procedure 30 times and then 30 times for the other brake. It is not recommended to run in with long and continuous braking, which can cause glass formation on the surface of the plates (glazing)

VIKTOR recommends: shorten the hoses only after running in!
